I’m not naturally a super organised person. I don’t think many people are. As I was thinking about returning to freelance I was hunting around for a suitable project management system. I had looked at and used a large number of the many alternatives that are available on the market, but nothing quite captured me.

Enter Verb

Verb began as an idea one day on a long drive. I’d thought about building a project management system before, but this time I had a real idea that wasn’t just rebuilding what already existed, and was achievable by my one man team of developers and designers.

I have been working on Verb on the occasional weekend or evening for the last few months, but in the last few weeks I have put in a bit more effort, and even found a name for it. So now you all know what my secret project has been.

Verb is a user focused task management and sharing system. It’s not really trying to compete with the big project management systems out there. If you want all the bells and whistles then you might want to go pay for them. What I am creating is something different.

The difference

Where the popular alternatives are group focused, Verb is user focused. This means that all your tasks are in the one place. Each user has their own projects which can be shared as needed. This is great for people who frequently work with other business or freelancers, without having to log into a separate system for each project. Needless to say, if you don’t work with other people then Verb is still great for managing your tasks.

Most importantly I want Verb to do two things, and do them well. Those two things are 1. task management, and 2. task sharing. I want Verb to be shaped around what you as a user want. I will be considering all feedback carefully.

Currently Verb is in alpha, but it is hurtling towards beta, where I will start to open it up to more people.
